Water filtration is no longer an option, it’s a necessity.

Why?

My passion for learning more about what’s in our drinking water all began when a patient came into the office and shared a copy of a notice from her local municipal drinking water informing her that there were extremely high levels of toxins in their tap water.

One of the foundations of health is hydration. I ask every patient how much water they drink as being well hydrated makes every system in your body perform better. The majority of people drink far too little water and the general recommendation is to drink half your body weight in ounces each day, with extra for sweating and diuretics (coffee, alcohol, etc.). Was I indirectly encouraging my patients to drink more toxins as a way to get healthy?

So I dug deep into the research and spent countless hours finding out about the state of our drinking water locally and across the US. It’s not pretty. Our drinking water is poorly regulated and even those regulations are poorly enforced. Bottom line: your tap water may be a significant source of toxic exposure.

So what’s the solution?

Once I discovered the immensity of the problems in our tap water, I had no choice but to explore possible solutions. You might be thinking, “But I only drink bottled water, so it’s fine.” Wrong, bottled water is very poorly regulated and there are numerous published reports of contaminants found in bottled water. This lead me down the path of finding the most effective and economical filters. Eventually I found Pure Effect Filters. I was very satisfied with their filtration technologies but as a scientist at heart, I had to run the numbers and sent a sample of my filtered water to a third party laboratory to check for heavy metals, disinfectants and disinfectant byproducts, radionucleotides, etc. The report was great and I found a filtration system I can readily recommend.
